Is AI Having Its Theranos Moment?
The recent fall of Builder.ai has everyone talking. Are we seeing the first signs of the AI bubble starting to burst?
The recent fall of Builder.ai has everyone talking. Are we seeing the first signs of the AI bubble starting to burst? As someone building an AI-driven company (yes, with .ai in the name too), I have to admit I feel a little concerned.
People are asking if it was really AI or just a bunch of people doing the work behind the scenes. A friend even joked that AI now stands for Actually Indians. I am Indian, so I laughed, but still that stung a bit.
For me, AI is more than just a buzzword. I have been working with AI and machine learning since 2010, applying it wherever possible, including analyzing my parents’ health data. Because nothing says I love you like predictive health analytics.
At uniQin.ai we believe AI is a powerful tool but it’s not magic. It’s not here to replace humans overnight. AI works best when it helps human intelligence shine, not when it tries to fake it with copy-paste code and offshored labor.
Builder.ai’s story is a reminder that hype alone does not build lasting companies. True value and solid business fundamentals do. Just like the dot-com crash gave birth to Amazon and Google, today’s AI hype might clear the noise and spotlight the real innovators.
One thing I’m proud of is that we are growing uniQin.ai without raising venture capital. We are bootstrapped and that means every step we take is sustainable and deliberate. No chasing valuations, no pressure to hype — just real work and real impact.
So while others chase unicorns, we will keep building tools that help ecommerce sellers grow smarter and scale sensibly.
And yes, our AI is real. Powered by real engineers. Many of whom are Indians.
